Raw Mohair

This Pygora fleece may be dyed or natural colors. It has been skirted, washed, dried and is ready for carding. There may be second cuts and a small amount of vegetative matter, because some of those plant materials are very sticky. Nonetheless, this fleece has been scoured and is very clean otherwise.

Carded Mohair

This Pygora fleece may be dyed or natural colors. It has been skirted, washed, dried, carded, and ready to be felted or spun.

We have Pygora goats Ova Here.

We shear our goats each year, multiple times, to collect their lovely mohair fleece. It feels a little serendipitous to us, since Pygora bread originated in Oregon City, OR by breading pygmy and angora goats. There are several pygora breeders in Oregon. We choose not to breed our flock. In fact we have a flock full of whethers, castrated male goats. We know this sounds harsh for the boys, but believe me these guys get far more love and affection as whethers than they would as stinky, bucks! Whethers are a great fiber flock resource, because their fleece doesn't get yucked up by the strong hormones of the buck and their bodies are not taxed by kidding, like the does. These boys live to eat our weeds, push the sheep around, get some human hugs, and enjoy a haircut every few months. What we love about the Pygora is their small size, making it easier for us to manage physically, and their very sweet personality. These goats may be little in stature, but they make up for it in their big character. Whether it's playing chase or giving hugs, these goats are a treasure on our farm!
